Today was the final day of official practice. Tomorrow we have the opening ceremony and the airshow. The serious stuff starts on Sunday. Hopefully I will be able to keep everyone adequately posted on the contest proper. -- Bruce Weather Forecast Situation: An anticyclone straddles nothern NZ and is drifting eastwards. A frontal system is moving slowly eastwards over the south Tasman Sea. The front is not expected to reach Fiordland until Saturday morning. Forecast: Frequent broken mid.high cloud is in the south but mainly scattered in the north. Rain about the Fiordland ranges with occasional light falls spreading east. Soaring: Moderate blue thermals developing mainly about the ranges by midday. THermal strengths and top of convection rising slowly to maximum at 1600 hrs. Weak to moderate wave marked by cloud will tend to strengthen in the south late afternoon.
