Forecast: Heavy rain about and W of the alps spreading N during the day. Scattered falls spreading E at times over Southland and S Otago this morning but becoming more frequent in the S and spreading N this afternoon. Rain may become frequnt immediately ahead of the front in the contest area. Soaring: Moderate to strong wave above moderate to strong convection initially but a deterioration with increasing cloud cover and lowering cloud base with approaching front. Severe turbulence especially below 9000 ft (2727 m).
