Today's forecast was not promising. There was a strong high-pressure developing and there was an inversion layer across the entire valley, Leaving a maximum altitude of 9,000 feet with very little cumulus. The task was Weed to R-Ranch to Scott Valley to Deer Mountain and return. Today the crews had there jobs cut out for them. Every pilot landed out and only a few made it very far past the first turnpoint. Roy Cundiff ended up winning the day, and he almost made it back to the field. He stayed over high ground all day, which was where the lift was, and he just felt his way around. Jae Walker stayed in first, followed by John Sinclair and John Byrd in second and third, respectively. Note:Charlie Spratt returned today, and took the contest back over after three days in the hospital.
