The number of bird species in the Serengeti was astounding. I saw a lot of raptors, there is a large number of eagle species in the park for instance. My favorite was the Pygmy Falcon (Polihierax semitorquatus, french: Fauconnet d'Afrique), the smallest raptor in Africa.

There were quite a few birds in the Ngorongoro crater. Some of them, for instance the European White Stork (Ciconia ciconia ciconia, german: Weißstorch, french: Cigogne blanche), are migrants from Europe, over-wintering in Africa. Others, like the Somali Kori Bustard (Ardeotis kori struthiunculus, german: Riesentrappe, french: Outarde kori), are locals.
